One of the groundbreaking initiatives of Volume 10 is the introduction of special one-off events aimed at fostering growth and innovation. JGLR is committed to advancing legal scholarship by facilitating dynamic discussions, meaningful engagements, and extensive outreach through these events. We are thrilled to invite you to our inaugural event, "Bridging the Gap: Law, Technology, and Public Access." This event promises to be a pivotal moment in our mission to democratize legal knowledge and address the pressing technological challenges in legal research. Join us as we embark on this exciting journey to enhance public access to legal information and empower the next generation of legal professionals.

The event will be held on Saturday, 1 June 2024 at 01.00 - 03.00 GMT+7 via Zoom Meeting. To receive certificate of participation, register here.

In this event, we are inviting Mr. Franky Butar Butar, S.H., M.Dev.Prac., LL.M. (lecturer at Airlangga University) and Dr. Wahyu Yun Santosa, S.H., M.Hum., LL.M. (Associate Professor in environmental law and the head of the Research Center for Law, Technology, RegTech & LegalTech Studies at Gadjah Mada University).

Mr. Franky will be discussing "The Democratization of Legal Knowledge". Imagine a world where everyone, no matter who they are or where they live, can easily find important legal information. This is becoming possible through the democratization of legal knowledge. Join as us as Mr. Franky explains how online platforms are making legal information accessible to everyone. His talk will show how these platforms are transforming society by making legal knowledge available to all, helping people become more informed and empowered.

Discussion with Mr. Franky will be continued with Dr. Wahyu addressing issues in online legal research. In our rapidly advancing digital age, ensuring the reliability and credibility of online legal resources is paramount. Dr. Wahyu will address the technological challenges that come with online legal research. His expertise will guide us through the complexities of maintaining trustworthiness in digital legal information, providing a roadmap for navigating these challenges effectively.

This event will be moderated by Aisyah Adibah Hasmiar, a passionate law student at Gadjah Mada University. Her keen interest in legal studies and technology will ensure a dynamic and engaging discussion, bridging the gap between speakers and the audience.

The primary goal of this event is to introduce the JGLR online platform to a broader audience, particularly law students from Southeast Asia, while encouraging student contributions, especially short-form and timely insights. Additionally, the event aims to facilitate networking and collaboration among attendees, fostering a vibrant community of legal scholars and practitioners with shared interests and goals.

Registering for this event will not only expand your legal knowledge and research skills but also open doors to valuable connections and collaborative opportunities. By participating, you'll be at the forefront of the movement to democratize legal knowledge and address the technological challenges of online legal research.
